Westside Corporation is an Australian oil and gas producer operating an extensive network of gas wells, compressor stations, monitoring assets and operational facilities across approximately 600 km² of gas acreage near Moura, Queensland. The Business Challenge
Westside required a telecommunications solution capable of providing reliable, wide-area connectivity across a geographically dispersed gas field, where traditional carrier mobile coverage and fixed communications infrastructure were either unavailable or unsuitable.
The solution needed to support:
- Real-time SCADA and telemetry systems
- Remote monitoring of wellheads and field infrastructure
- Connectivity for compressor stations and operational facilities
- Internet and corporate data access
- Communications for field personnel and site vehicles
- High availability across critical operational assets
- Ongoing monitoring, management and support of the communications network
The challenge was not simply providing internet access, but creating a resilient operational communications platform capable of supporting day-to-day production activities across a large, remote resource operation.
The Business Solution
MarchNet designed, built, commissioned and continues to operate a private LTE and microwave communications network connecting Westside’s gas operations.
Private LTE Network
MarchNet deployed a dedicated Telrad private 4G LTE network across the Moura gas field, providing wide-area wireless coverage for operational assets and mobile users. The network is delivered through three strategically located LTE base station sites that provide extensive coverage across the operational area.
The network supports:

Carrier-Grade Microwave Backhaul
To support the LTE deployment and site-to-site communications requirements, MarchNet designed and operates a high-capacity microwave backhaul network connecting:
- The Moura office
- Compressor stations
- Field communication sites
- LTE infrastructure locations
- MarchNet core network facilities
These microwave links provide the transport layer that enables secure, low-latency communications between operational assets across the gas field.
WAN & Internet Connectivity
MarchNet supplies and manages wide-area network connectivity between Westside’s operational facilities and corporate environments, providing access to business applications, operational systems, cloud services, corporate networks and the Internet. This enables seamless integration between field operations and corporate systems.
