MarchNet Smarter Telecommunications shine brightly for QLD Solar Project Construction & Operations
In May 2019, a long-standing construction client reached out for design and pricing of reliable telecommunications for a Solar Farm project during their bid stage. The project, located in QLD, will be a multi- stage construction, eventually providing up to 500MW into the National Energy Market, enough to power approximately 291,000 homes.
Fast forward 4 months and the client secured the contract and engaged MarchNet to deliver their construction comms in time for mobilisation. MarchNet had just 6 weeks to deliver High Capacity, quality data telecommunications and Cel-Fi mobile phone boosters to the 500MW Solar Farm construction office. Without these works, staff were reliant on very limited signal on Telstra’s mobile network, an unworkable situation.
With telecommunications secured for the construction contractor, MarchNet was then awarded the contract for Operations & Maintenance (O&M) SCADA telecommunications to the permanent control room. The solution involved supplying a Managed Firewall on site with automatic failover between MarchNet’s primary Fixed Wireless data service and the secondary 4G mobile data service.
The temporary construction and permanent SCADA communications services connect into MarchNet’s extensive fibre access network via a 35km licensed Fixed Wireless link. The Fixed Wireless service has been designed with 99.999% availability and the ability to deliver up to 450Mbps symmetric bandwidth.
With the delivery of business grade Fixed Wireless, with no limit on usage, MarchNet was able to provide the solar farm with:
