MarchNet Provides Future Proof Connectivity for North Queensland Mine
This North Queensland Mine was challenged by an unreliable internet connection alongside limited bandwidth to support their mining operation. This Mine requested an increase in bandwidth from their existing telecommunications carrier. They were advised that any increase in capacity would come at a significant capital cost, involving paying for upgrades to the carrier’s local exchange to facilitate this upgrade. Their existing connection had also proved to be unreliable and their existing carrier had been difficult to deal with when issues arose impacting their service. As a result of the unreliability and high costs involved, this Mine reached out to MarchNet seeking an alternative solution.
MarchNet designed and installed a 100Mbps/100Mbps Private Layer 2 Fibre Service to the Mine’s Communications Room, within twelve weeks from being awarded the contract. MarchNet project managed a new fibre breakout, including installation to the Communications Room, where existing on-site fibre connected the rest of the mine facilities.
With the delivery of a dedicated 100Mbps internet service, with no limit on usage to the Mine, MarchNet was able to provide:
- Increased reliability with telecommunications to their remote site
- Increased bandwidth to support growing demand for connectivity
- Future proof solution, with the ability to increase bandwidth to suit demand
- Increased productivity from staff on site
- Reduced impacts of isolation by keeping workers connected to their family and friends
