About The Client
Stanbroke operates a 30,000-head feedlot near Chinchilla, Queensland. The feedlot relies heavily on communications systems to support administration, workforce collaboration, operational management, compliance activities and ongoing productivity initiatives.
The Business Challenge
Prior to engaging MarchNet, the site’s telecommunications relied on a 3G mobile network that had become oversubscribed and was unable to support the growing demands of the operation.
The service provided inconsistent performance, which affected access to business systems, communications between staff and external stakeholders, and the ability to adopt modern cloud-based applications. As the operation continued to grow, Stanbroke required a reliable communications platform capable of supporting both current and future operational requirements.
From congested mobile to dedicated enterprise connectivity
What changed at the feedlot.
Shared 3G mobile service
- Oversubscribed mobile network
- Inconsistent performance
- Limited access to business and cloud systems
- Unable to support a growing operation
Dedicated fixed wireless network
- Dedicated 50/50 Mbps symmetrical service
- Unlimited data usage
- Enterprise-grade service availability
- Cloud, video conferencing and remote training
The Business Solution
MarchNet designed and deployed a dedicated wide-area fixed wireless network to deliver carrier-grade communications into the feedlot.
The solution provided:
- Dedicated 50 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload connectivity
- Unlimited data usage
- Dedicated fixed wireless infrastructure rather than shared mobile broadband
- Enterprise-grade service availability
- A platform capable of supporting cloud applications, video conferencing and future digital initiatives
The service was commissioned in March 2018 and has remained a critical communications service supporting day-to-day operations at the site.
The Business Outcome
The impact of the improved connectivity extended well beyond internet access. The new telecommunications platform enabled Stanbroke to:
During the COVID-19 period, the service became particularly valuable, enabling staff to maintain communications through extensive use of video calling, online meetings and remote collaboration tools. Stanbroke reported significant reductions in travel time and costs, while also improving safety outcomes for personnel.
